PipTale — Terms & Conditions
Effective date: June 12, 2026
These Terms are a legal agreement between you and PipTale (“PipTale”, “we”, “us”, “our”), the operator of the website at piptale.co (the “Service”).
By creating an account, redeeming an access code, or otherwise using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms, including the Privacy section (§11) which explains how we handle your information. If you do not agree, you may not use the Service. We will ask you to actively accept these Terms when you create your account.
PipTale is a private online library of original children's picture books and stories, created and illustrated by us, which members can read on a phone, tablet, or computer through a web browser. The Service is currently offered in English and Spanish.
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-commercial, revocable licence to access and read the PipTale stories for the private enjoyment of you and your household. This licence exists only while your account is active and your access is in good standing. We reserve all rights not expressly granted to you.
The stories, illustrations, and characters are valuable original works. You agree that you will not, and will not allow anyone else to:
You may, of course, read the stories aloud to the children in your own home and family — that's exactly what PipTale is for.
All content on the Service — including the stories, illustrations, characters, text, design, and the “PipTale” name and logo — is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. Nothing in these Terms transfers any ownership to you. You may not use our names, logos, or branding without our prior written permission.
You agree to use the Service only for lawful, personal, family purposes, and not to: interfere with or disrupt the Service or its security; access it in a way that harms us or other users; attempt to gain unauthorized access to any account or system; or use the Service to violate any law or the rights of others.
We love hearing from you. If you send us feedback or suggestions — for example, by emailing us at contact@piptale.co — or, where the feature is available, submit a review or reaction to a story, you grant us a perpetual, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use it to operate and improve the Service, including the right to display approved reviews within the Service. You are responsible for what you submit, and you agree it will be respectful, truthful, and free of personal information about children. We may decline to publish, or remove, any submission at our discretion.
This section explains what personal information we collect, why, and your choices. It forms part of these Terms.
11.1 What we collect.
11.2 Why we use it. To create and secure your account, to unlock and deliver the stories, to respond to you, to keep the Service working and safe, and to comply with our legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
11.3 Who we share it with. We share information only with trusted service providers who help us run PipTale and who process it on our behalf under confidentiality obligations — currently our hosting and database/authentication providers Vercel and Supabase. These providers store data on secure servers. We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of PipTale or others. If the business is ever sold or transferred, account information may transfer as part of that change.
11.4 How long we keep it. We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. If you close your account or ask us to delete your data, we will delete or anonymise it within a reasonable period, except where we must keep some records to meet legal obligations.
11.5 Your choices & rights. You can view or update your name and password in your profile at any time. You may ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to close your account, by contacting us at contact@piptale.co. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR (Europe/UK) or the CCPA (California); we will honour those rights as required by law.
11.6 Cookies & local storage. PipTale uses only the storage needed to keep you signed in and to remember your display settings on your device. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
11.7 Changes. If we change how we handle your information, we will update this section and the “Effective date” above, and give notice of significant changes as described in §14.
We rely on third-party providers (for example, hosting, authentication, and storage) to operate the Service. Their availability and performance are outside our control, and we are not responsible for the acts, omissions, or services of third parties.
We may modify, add, or discontinue any part of the Service — including individual stories or features — at any time, with or without notice. We are not liable to you for any such change, although we will try to give reasonable notice of significant changes where we can.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Effective date” above and post the revised Terms in the Service. For material changes, we will provide reasonable notice and may ask you to accept the updated Terms before you continue using the Service. Your continued use after the changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or always available. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so some of the above may not apply to you.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, PipTale and its owners will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, arising out of or relating to your use of the Service. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless PipTale and its owners from any claims, damages, losses, and reasonable expenses (including legal fees) arising from your misuse of the Service or your breach of these Terms.
You may stop using the Service and close your account at any time by contacting us. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if we reasonably believe your use poses a risk to the Service or others, or if we discontinue the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive (including content ownership, restrictions, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification) will survive termination.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Before starting any formal dispute, you agree to first contact us and give us 60 days to try to resolve the matter informally. If the matter is not resolved, any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in the State of Texas, and you and we consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.
